Wendella: WIOA Adult Program

September 10, 2024

Wendella entered the WIOA Adult program in February 2023 with interest in pursuing CNA training. While in the program, Wendella successfully completed CNA training through Northwoods Tech and received WIOA assistance with tuition and fees, textbooks, nursing supplies such as a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope, and the testing fees required for her CNA examination and licensure. Following the successful completion of her schooling and obtaining her licensure, the WIOA program assisted Wendella with interview clothing and shoes during her job search process. CP sent her job leads, provided resume assistance, and helped her to prepare for interviews. Wendella worked with a temp agency through this time while seeking a permanent placement. In June, Wendella had an interview with Christian Community Homes of Osceola, and finally landed the permanent position she had been seeking. As she is living in a more rural area, she had a hard time finding a position that matched her commute needs and her availability, as she also takes care of her young children. This position was a perfect fit for Wendella, and CP assisted with the purchase of work scrubs needed for the new position. CP and Wendella spent time discussing job retention and her work goals moving forward, and Wendella successfully completed her time in the WIOA program. She is now working with Christian Community Homes of Osceola full-time at $21.64/hour as a CNA.
