Eau Claire County Job Center: A Key Local Resource

September 28, 2023

By providing several job-seeking resources in a centralized location, The Eau Claire County Job Center creates employment pathways for community members throughout the county. The Eau Claire County Job Center is part of the One-Stop-Operator (OSO) system, a network of community centers that provide resources and support throughout the region. OSOs, or American Job Centers, streamline the job-seeking process for regional communities. By partnering with local, state, and federal agencies, educational institutions, and economic development organizations, Job Centers provide crucial connections for their community.

OSO Job Center Features: Streamlining the Job Seeking Process

By offering job seekers the tools, information, and resources they need, the West Central Wisconsin Job Center System helps job seekers search for employment, retain employment, or pursue training that will lead to employment. Erik Hinch, One Stop Operator Coordinator at Workforce Resource Inc., shares that job centers achieve this goal through several vital services. “There's resume assistance, practice interviews, getting job leads, job fairs. The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) assists folks with physical or mental barriers to finding employment. Our resources are robust, streamlined, and multifaceted so that we can help our communities best.” General resources at the job centers include:

  • Access to local and regional job openings
  • Computer resource center for researching job openings and resume assistance
  • Job fair opportunities
  • Training program information
  • College enrollment information
  • Job skills workshops

Additional services based on program eligibility include:

  • Job search and job placement assistance
  • Transportation assistance
  • Child care assistance
  • Work experience opportunities
  • On-the-job training opportunities
  • Short-term skills training
  • Educational assistance

Additionally, Job Centers have specific programming tailored to individual needs, including programs for justice-involved citizens, students, incumbent workers, and workers with disabilities. Because justice-involved citizens experience particular challenges in finding employment, the Job Center system created specific programs and services. For example, on-site at the Eau Claire County Job Center, staff can offer help with basic needs or job search assistance to justice-involved citizens.
