Korey Klammer: WIOA Dislocated Worker Program

September 4, 2024

Korey Klammer was enrolled in the WIOA Dislocated Worker program on 04/14/2023 following a mass layoff at HTI in the Spring of 2023. At HTI, he worked as a technician and was not able to find a position with equal pay given his level of seniority and experience. As a result, he decided to attend the Automotive Refinish and Repair Technical program at CVTC. He has received perfect grades throughout his time in the program at CVTC, and he has gone above and beyond with his school involvement as a member of the Skills USA team. In addition, he participated in a charity welding project through CVTC building custom mailboxes for auction. Furthermore, he placed 2nd in the Skills USA State Competition for Automotive Refinish. He also participated in an internship at Fast Freddie’s Auto Shop to improve his skills and increase his employability. Korey took his final course at CVTC this summer, and he graduated at the beginning of August. He has accepted a full-time position beginning this fall at the Classic Garage in Chippewa Falls at $26/hour. He will be working on vintage and classic cars, and he is extremely excited to be working in this niche within his field. While in the program, WIOA has provided Korey with car repair assistance, tuition assistance, payment for tools and supplies required for both school and work, and CP has provided ongoing guidance through the financial aid appeal process. Korey is an exemplary participant within the WIOA DW program, and it has been a pleasure to see him not only grow, but excel, within his new career field.
