Robert's Story

March 29, 2023

Robert enrolled into the WIOA Dislocated Worker program in November of 2022. Robert was eligible for the WIOA-DW program due to being laid off from his job. Upon enrollment into the WIOA program, Robert expressed interest in pursuing his CDL Class A.  Shortly after enrollment, Robert enrolled into the Truck Driving program with Hands on CDL Driving School.  Robert was co-enrolled into the WAI program, and WAI assisted with payment for the tuition and fees. Robert officially started this training in December 2022. WIOA and DWG SER provided assistance with the cost of clothing needed for the training program, mileage reimbursement, CDL A license fee, vehicle repairs, and the DOT physical cost. On February 10th, Robert successfully completed his training and obtained his CDL A through the DMV. After a short job search period, Robert officially accepted a position on 03/13/2023 as a truck driver. Robert makes $24.50 an hour working full time 40 hours a week with benefits.
