Brenda's Story

Brenda enrolled in the WIOA-AP program in November of 2020. Brenda was eligible for the WIOA-AP program due to being basic skills deficient. Prior to enrollment, Brenda was enrolled with CVTC’s Paramedic program. Brenda begun receiving WIOA financial assistance for this Paramedic program in the spring 2021 semester. WIOA assisted Brenda by providing funding for her tuition along with support fees for school, textbooks, and paying for exam fees. On June 3rd, 2021, Brenda successfully obtained her EMT license. Brenda continued school for the fall 2021 and spring 2022 semester until she found employment with a Health System and decided she didn’t need to finish schooling. Brenda received $19.22 an hour with Mayo Health Systems and currently works 25 hours a week with opportunities to pursue full time employment if she desired to.
